The lovely folk at Hawarden Estate came up with an idea at the start of all this chaos, to help support fifty freelance workers over fifty days. I asked for a tree! We selected a stunning straight young beech tree from the estate’s sustainably managed woodland. Since then, as well as juggling all the family at home, I have processed the tree into 50 bowl blanks, made a Japanese style lathe, learned to use it and now I am making fifty bowls in fifty days! Pre-order now – it’s stunning wood. When they are gone, they are gone.
The bowls will be min. 6 inch diameter and suitable for breakfast, soup or pasta. Customise your bowl with a choice of finish on the outside of the bowl – natural beech wood, light slate blue milk paint or red milk paint. The bowls are sealed carefully with several coats of watertight food-safe finish and will last for many many years with care.
For folk as clumsy as me with ceramics, these wooden bowls bounce well too!
